The Fighter Who Found a Home in MMA: Chipego's Journey to Belonging
Once a young man with limited prospects, Chipego Simukuwa is now a fighter with an unbreakable spirit. Growing up, he was raised by a single parent and, despite achieving great results in his Grade 12 examination, was unable to further his education due to financial constraints. But fate had something else in store for him.
Looking for a challenge and seeking the true definition of combat, Chipego was introduced to MMA by a friend. He registered for an MMA tournament and met Benjamin Bush, who would become his coach in the discipline. Though he was disqualified in his first fight, the reception he got from the MMA community was overwhelming. MMA helped him keep away from bad vices and gave him the discipline he needed in his life. Chipego had found his home in the sport, and MMA became his life.
Through his journey in MMA, Chipego has channeled its discipline and ethos into his life. He has his eyes set on the world stage and aspires to be a famous world champion who will inspire Zambia and Africa. Despite the hardships he faced growing up, Chipego is now a fighter with a relentless spirit, ready to face any challenge that comes his way. And as he steps into the MMA cage, he carries with him the hopes and dreams of his country and continent.
